Dress up your meals!

Doesn't it get boring, eating the same thing over and over?  Food boredom can become a big problem with your weight loss efforts.  It's exciting to try new things.  It's also important to add color to your plate so that your meal looks appetizing.

What are some of your favorite food finds?  What has become a new staple in your diet that you never thought you'd eat before?

I know I often solicit help from my family with meal planning.  I feel like I get stuck in a rut, eating the same things over and over.  This week make a point to try a new piece of fruit or vegetable.  Try a new side dish.  Or even try one of the new ice cream treats from Weight Watchers.  I have recently discovered our new Dulce de Leche ice cream bars (caramel), the mini ice cream sandwiches, and the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake bars.

Are you still training for our Walk-It Challenge on Sunday, May 22nd?  Your goal is to complete a 5K.  Awards will be handed out in the meeting room for those who participated.  We'll meet at Veteran's Park at 6:00 p.m.  This is an informal walk, not sponsored by Weight Watchers.  Bring your family, friends, pets, strollers, wagons, etc., and enjoy the event.  If you're not physically able to complete the walk, come down and cheer on those who are completing the walk!  Everyone can contribute and be a part.

Speaking of adding color, check out this recipe for Pasta Primavera:

Bite It, Write it!

My apologies for not updating my blog last week.  I got caught up in "banquet hysteria" and this slipped my mind.  It is great to have that large event behind me for one year!

Have you been training for your 5K on May 22nd?  In case you're interested, several of my co-workers will be doing that walk EVERY Sunday from now up until May 22nd to practice for our 5K.  6:00 p.m. at Veteran's Park.  I can't guarantee I will be there before May 22nd, but there will be dozens of WW members enjoying the walk.  I walked three miles this morning with my neighbor and two miles this evening with my husband.  Time sure does go by faster when walking with others!

In your meeting this week, we will be discussing the challenges of tracking.  We know it works, we know we should be doing it, but sometimes it doesn't always get done.  Come to your meeting to see how others have overcome their tracking obstacles.

Here's a Jennifer Hudson-approved recipe for Strawberry Pie.  Any time you see the "JH" stamp on a recipe, it represents Jennifer Hudson!

1 to 2 tubes of sugar-free lemonade powder mix-in
10 or more ice cubes
1.5 oz tequila

Mix all in blender

See you soon!

Walk-It!

I am so excited that we're kicking off our 3rd annual Walk-It Challenge this week.  The event will be held on May 22nd, 6:00 p.m., at Veteran's Park, located at 18th and Boulder.

How many of you have walked a 5K before?  It's not as intimidating as it may seem.  5Ks are enjoyable, there are so many people working towards the same goal, and it's such a great sense of accomplishment to cross that finish line.  The nice thing about our walk is that it is not timed so there's no additional pressure.  Just join us and have a great time!
I can tell you that walking three miles per day for the past seven years has helped keep my 50 lbs. off.  Walking is a great way to start my day and I take that time to reflect on the upcoming day.  Many times I walk with a neighbor, but every day I walk with our dog.  The exercise is beneficial for her as well and is something she expects every day.

Here's a great recipe for lasagna.  The "JH" stamp on the recipe means it's Jennifer Hudson approved!  Doesn't she look wonderful?

Looking forward to seeing you this week!
