Breakfast!

We've always heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  However, some people don't think they have time to make breakfast or have time to sit down and eat breakfast.  In your meeting this week you will get some new ideas for breakfast.  Bring your ideas to share and come with an open mind to try something new!

This coming Sunday, May 22nd, is our 3rd annual Walk-It Challenge.  This event will be held at Veteran's Park at 18th and Boulder at 6:00 p.m.  There is no need to register, just simply show up ready to complete a 5K.  Members who complete our 5K will receive a charm in their meeting next week.  Bring your family, friends, pets, strollers, wagons, whatever.  Be sure to bring a bottle of water.  Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

This is the second week for our Baked Snacks, Popped Snacks and 3 PointsPlus Value bars to be on sale for $3.50 per box.  Stock up while they're cheap!

Here's a skinnied-down version of the 7-layer dip, which would be great for a Memorial Day event.

Managing Relationships

Hello WW members!

Sorry it's been a couple of weeks since my last post.  My son is keeping me busy with his activities at school and tournaments!  I am enjoying every one of them since he'll be graduating in a couple of years.  He's already getting mail from colleges, we're touring campuses, he's taking the ACT next month.  Yikes!

Having someone in your corner with weight loss is so important to your success.  How many times have we tried to lose weight, only to be sabotaged by people in our lives?  It could be them innocently suggesting a "red light" restaurant, or it could be deliberate on their parts as well.

Learn to stand up for yourself!  Let your family, friends and co-workers know why you're trying to lose weight and how you will benefit.

Here's a recipe for blueberry muffins that I found on the Community Swap section of weightwatchers.com.  Android phone users, have you downloaded the new WW Mobile app?  I finally got my phone reset and downloaded it last week.  It's really neat!

Our Walk-It Challenge will be held on Sunday, May 22 at 6:00.  We will be starting and ending our walk at Veteran's Park, located at 18th and Boulder.  Bring your friends, family, dogs, strollers, whoever and whatever!  You don't have to sign up, it's free and not timed.  We just want you to complete a 5K.  Members who complete a 5K will receive a special charm in their meeting.

Next week we'll be discussing breakfast.  Bring your great ideas to our meeting to share!

Dress up your meals!

Doesn't it get boring, eating the same thing over and over?  Food boredom can become a big problem with your weight loss efforts.  It's exciting to try new things.  It's also important to add color to your plate so that your meal looks appetizing.

What are some of your favorite food finds?  What has become a new staple in your diet that you never thought you'd eat before?

I know I often solicit help from my family with meal planning.  I feel like I get stuck in a rut, eating the same things over and over.  This week make a point to try a new piece of fruit or vegetable.  Try a new side dish.  Or even try one of the new ice cream treats from Weight Watchers.  I have recently discovered our new Dulce de Leche ice cream bars (caramel), the mini ice cream sandwiches, and the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake bars.

Are you still training for our Walk-It Challenge on Sunday, May 22nd?  Your goal is to complete a 5K.  Awards will be handed out in the meeting room for those who participated.  We'll meet at Veteran's Park at 6:00 p.m.  This is an informal walk, not sponsored by Weight Watchers.  Bring your family, friends, pets, strollers, wagons, etc., and enjoy the event.  If you're not physically able to complete the walk, come down and cheer on those who are completing the walk!  Everyone can contribute and be a part.

Speaking of adding color, check out this recipe for Pasta Primavera:

Have a great week!

Bite It, Write it!

My apologies for not updating my blog last week.  I got caught up in "banquet hysteria" and this slipped my mind.  It is great to have that large event behind me for one year!

Have you been training for your 5K on May 22nd?  In case you're interested, several of my co-workers will be doing that walk EVERY Sunday from now up until May 22nd to practice for our 5K.  6:00 p.m. at Veteran's Park.  I can't guarantee I will be there before May 22nd, but there will be dozens of WW members enjoying the walk.  I walked three miles this morning with my neighbor and two miles this evening with my husband.  Time sure does go by faster when walking with others!

In your meeting this week, we will be discussing the challenges of tracking.  We know it works, we know we should be doing it, but sometimes it doesn't always get done.  Come to your meeting to see how others have overcome their tracking obstacles.

Here's a Jennifer Hudson-approved recipe for Strawberry Pie.  Any time you see the "JH" stamp on a recipe, it represents Jennifer Hudson!

My co-worker just shared this low-PointsPlus Value Margarita recipe with me so I'm posting it as well:

Margaritas

1 can diet white soda
1/8 cup lime juice
1 to 2 tubes of sugar-free lemonade powder mix-in
10 or more ice cubes
1.5 oz tequila

Mix all in blender

4 PPV
See you soon!

Walk-It!

I am so excited that we're kicking off our 3rd annual Walk-It Challenge this week.  The event will be held on May 22nd, 6:00 p.m., at Veteran's Park, located at 18th and Boulder.

How many of you have walked a 5K before?  It's not as intimidating as it may seem.  5Ks are enjoyable, there are so many people working towards the same goal, and it's such a great sense of accomplishment to cross that finish line.  The nice thing about our walk is that it is not timed so there's no additional pressure.  Just join us and have a great time!
I can tell you that walking three miles per day for the past seven years has helped keep my 50 lbs. off.  Walking is a great way to start my day and I take that time to reflect on the upcoming day.  Many times I walk with a neighbor, but every day I walk with our dog.  The exercise is beneficial for her as well and is something she expects every day.

Here's a great recipe for lasagna.  The "JH" stamp on the recipe means it's Jennifer Hudson approved!  Doesn't she look wonderful?

Looking forward to seeing you this week!

Buddy up!

How is everyone liking my new blog?  Me...I'm still getting used to it, but it seems to be working out well.

Have you ever tried losing weight with a friend or family member?  How has it made a difference versus going it alone?  In your Weight Watchers meeting this week, you'll learn the benefits of having a weight loss buddy.  There may be one right under your nose and you don't even realize it!

I am looking forward to our 3rd annual Walk-It! Challenge, which will be held on May 22nd.  You will learn all of the details about it in next week's meeting.  Be sure to save the date!

Here's a quick and easy recipe for Mexican Hot Chocolate.  I can't believe I'm publishing this in the Spring, but it's cold outside and looks good!

Looking forward to seeing YOU this week!

Looking Forward While Looking Back

Hello WW members!  Be patient with me as I create my blog.  I'm not very computer savvy so this is definitely a work in progress.

PointsPlus has exploded all over the country and the number of my members has grown right along with it, making it difficult for me to individually email all of you every week.  This is a good problem to have and I love that I have so many new and returning members who are as excited about PointsPlus as I am.  Yahoo limits the number of people I can mass email and accuses me of spamming.  I have to send my emails out in batches, which has become very time consuming and something I have begun to put off every week.

This blog will take the place of my weekly email.  Simply visit it every week for updated recipes and information about your meetings.  Become a follower of my blog and you will receive email alerts when I have a new post.

If you are like me, you have tried to lose weight several times in the past.  It can be frustrating and embarrassing to admit defeat.  Remember this:  At Weight Watchers, there's no failure, only feedback.  We have to look back at past behaviors and think about what caused us to backslide on previous attempts.  When we recognize what went wrong, we can learn from past mistakes and move forward.  In your meeting this week, you will learn some strategies to help you move in the right direction.

This is the last week for our sale on Mini Bars, Smoothies and Oatmeal for only $4.95 per box.  Stock up while they're cheap!

See you this week!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello WW members!  Be patient with me as I create my blog.  I'm not very computer savvy so this is definitely a work in progress.

This blog will take the place of my weekly email.  Simply visit it every week for updated recipes and information about your meetings.

How many times have you tried to lose weight by depriving yourself of the foods you love?  I'm sure all of us have done that at one point in time.  That might have delivered short-term weight loss, but it won't lead to any long-term success.  Eventually we will give in to our cravings and overeat on the foods we deprived ourselves.

In your meeting this week you will learn some tips to avoid deprivation.  We're still having our sale on Mini Bars, Smoothies and Oatmeal for only $4.95 per box.  Stock up while they're cheap!

See you this week!
